NICOSIA, 3 December 2008 - The Cyprus Tourism
Organisation and the Cyprus Olympic Committee are ready
to launch a closer cooperation for the promotion of
Cyprus abroad, in view of the upcoming Games of the
Small States of Europe CYPRUS 2009, it was announced,
following a meeting between officials of the two bodies.
Delegations from both organisations, headed by their
presidents, Ouranios Ioannides of the Cyprus Olympic
Committee and Panos Egglezos of the Cyprus Tourism
Organisation, agreed that there is scope for a closer
cooperation between the two bodies as of 2009,
especially due to the hosting of the XIII GSSE by
Tourism Organisation has shown great interest in
supporting the competition, next June, aiming at the
best possible promotion of the country abroad. It has
already been proposed that CTO offices abroad promote
the XIII GSSE and the whole organisational effort be
supported by staff of the CTO. The competition will also
be promoted abroad through the special agreements of the
CTO with international broadcasters such as the BBC and
Tourism Organisation has active offices in twenty two
major cities worldwide - London, Dublin, Frankfurt,
Berlin, Paris, Stockholm, Helsinki, Athens, Milan,
Zurich, Brussels, Amsterdam, Vienna, New York, Moscow,
Tel Aviv, Budapest, Prague, Thessaloniki, St.
Petersburg, Warsaw and Dubai.

Secretary Charalambos Lottas and executive board member
George Chrysostomou. The CTO was also represented by its
General Director Phoebe Katsouri and its officials
Monica Liatiri and Lygia Theodorou-Dermati.
