NICOSIA, 28 March 2009
- Achilleas Mavromatis, the delegate of the
International Volleyball Federation for the XIII Games of the Small
States of Europe expressed his full satisfaction with
the preparations so far for the indoor volleyball
competition of the event, following an inspection visit,
here.
Mr Mavromatis, a Greek
lawyer and member of the FIVB Legal Commission, visited
the venue of the indoor volleyball competition at the
University of Cyprus campus in Nicosia, accompanied by
Giorgos Dorites, representative of the Cyprus Volleyball
Federation responsible for the National Teams. During
his brief visit to Nicosia he also met with other
officials of the Cyprus Olympic Committee and the CyVF,
who briefed him on the preparations for the competition.
The FIVB representative
was enthousiastic with the facilities--the only pending
matter being the lack of sufficient changing rooms in
the hall.
Mr Mavromatis also
inspected the training halls at the Technological
Institute and at Latsia and later met with COC Director
Olga Piperidou, who presented him with the accommodation
and transportation plans of the organisers.
"After all I have seen,
I'm sure we will have an excellent competition," said Mr
Mavromatis at the end of his visit. The FIVB delegate
will possibly visit Cyprus once more before the Games
themselves, to attend the OPAP Men's Final Four
competition, 21-23 April, which will be the Test Event
for volleyball.
