The Games of the Small States of Europe
are an important sports and social event for European
nations with populations of less than a million people.
For this reason, the main Opening Ceremony of the XIII
GSSE CYPRUS 2009, as well as the actual competition
events will be attended by state leaders, ministers and
other high-ranking officials who are expected in Cyprus.
The Organising Committee has already sent
invitations to all the state leaders whose nations will
take part in the XIII GSSE, that will be hosted in
Cyprus between 1 and 6. Invitations have also been sent
to the respective Foreign Ministers and Ministers of
CYPRUS 2009 also did not neglect in its duty to invite
the presidents of the National Olympic Committees.
For the Opening Ceremony, the President
of the International Olympic Committee Jacques Rogge was
invited to attend, but had to decline due to prior
engagements. A representative of the IOC will, however,
