LIMASSOL, 20 May 2009 - Cyprus is
expecting to play a leading role in Rhythmic Gymnastics
during the XIII Games of the Small States of Europe.
According to the director of the sport,
Ioulia Zachariou, Cyprus has high hopes of securing
medals in all the apparatus of the sport. "We have a
good chance of winning medals in all the
disciplines--rope, hoop, ball and ribbon," said Ms
Zachariou. "We can secure two medals in each apparatus
and we are hoping that they will be gold and silver."
Most of Cyprus' hopes to clinch the
medals are pinned on three athletes who recently took
part in the European Championships--Loukia Trikomitis,
Chrystaleni Trikomitis and Katerina Christodoulou.
