The Small States
Division
of the 2009 European
Championships, will be the dress rehearsal for the
Cyprus Women's National Volleyball Team before the start
of the XIII Games of the Small States of Europe. The
Cyprus team departed for Liechtenstein today, aiming at
the best possible appearance.
"The competition calendar
of the European Volleyball Confederation was set up in
such a way that we will have the opportunity to face
some of our GSSE opponents in Liechtenstein," said
National coach Nicos Ioannou. "I consider this to be an
advantage for our team, as after the Liechtenstein
tournament we will have approximately one week to work
on some of our weaknesses."

has the following players at his disposal: Tania Siskou,
Ivana Milanovitch, Panayota Aristeidou, Maria
Charalambous, Emanuela Vassiliou, Liza Krani-Riala,
Aphrodite Faouta, Andreas Charalambous, Sofia
Tsangaridou, Chryso Vouvakou, Eleni Michael, Panayota
Kouta, Artemis Stavrou, Sandra Pavlou and Nina Tsiouta.
According to the Liechtenstein schedule
Cyprus will take on San Marino on 22 May 22,
Liechtenstein on 23 May and Luxembourg on 24 May. In the
Qualifying Round, in Malta, Cyprus defeated Iceland 3-0
(25-16, 25-19, 25-17), San Marino 3-0 (25-18, 25-17,
25-14) and Malta 3-0 (25-21, 25-19, 25-21).
